"Thank you so much for the book—I really enjoyed reading it! I was very impressed, and I think it would be ideal for a KS1 class (Year 1 or 2) for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it follows a clear structure — introduction, build-up, problem (Matilda worrying she won’t be able to juggle) and solution — which aligns perfectly with how we teach simple stories in KS1. The book also conveys a strong and accessible moral (“anything is possible”), making it a great stimulus for class discussions in English or PSHE lessons.
There are also lots of rich language features throughout. For example, the adjectives (“camels with large furry humps”) and adverbs (“lions and tigers roared loudly”) would make excellent teaching points for KS1 teachers. I particularly liked the poems at the beginning introducing the cows — these could be used as part of a poetry unit in English lessons.
The explanation about cows and other circus animals also ties in nicely with science topics, especially the "Animals including humans" unit. So as you can see, there are lots of cross-curricular links!
Great work! I'd love to take the book back to Romania with me to share with my next class."
